NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State tennis coach Olga Bazhanova has successfully recruited her native Ukraine, and the Lady Demons added the latest Ukranian with the signing of Kateryna Avram.

Avram is an accomplished Ukrainian juniors player who's been exposed to the rigors of nationally competitive tennis.

"We are very excited for Kateryna to join our team," Bazhanova said. "She is a strong tennis player who is a winner of many national tennis competitions in Ukraine.

"Our tennis has been successful for the past several years because of our work ethic and focus on academics and teamwork. Kateryna will be a great fit for this program. She is an excellent student, a very motivated and team-oriented tennis player with a strong work ethic and great character."

Avram graduated with a 3.4 GPA from Kiev Gymnasium 287 and is a winner of Ukrainian subject olympiads in the Ukrainian and English languages.
