Konop earns third SLC Player of the Week honors

NATCHITOCHES – After registering a perfect 4-0 record over the weekend Northwestern State's Polina Konop was named the Southland Conference Women's Tennis Player of the week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
 
Konop led the Lady Demons as they split conference matches over the weekend.
 
The junior overpowered Southeastern Louisiana's Nastya Tokareva 7-5, 6-0 and Nicholls State's Marie Aubert 6-3, 6-4 in singles competition at the No. 1 spot.
 
Konop also teamed up with freshman Natalya Krutova to go 2-0 in doubles action. The duo defeated SLU's Adriana Castillo and Renee Villareal 8-6 and Nicholls' Rachel Howie and Emma Pitre 8-4 at the No. 2 position.
 
The Kiev, Ukraine native improves to 13-3 overall and 6-1 in SLC play in singles action and 12-4, 7-0 in doubles competition.
 
This is Konop's third player of the week honor this season.
 
Konop and the Lady Demons will finish out the regular season on the road as they travel to Lamar on Saturday and McNeese State on Sunday.
