Polina Konop,
Tatiana Larina,
Andrea Nedorostova and
Natalya Krutova earned All-Southland Conference Women's Tennis Team honors, the conference office announced Wednesday.
The Lady Demons (11-7 overall, 6-3 SLC) are the fourth seed in the upcoming SLC Tournament, which is set to begin on Friday at 11 a.m. in Beaumont, Texas. NSU will match up against No. 5 Stephen F. Austin (10-12, 5-4) in the quarterfinals at 2 o'clock.
Konop, a junior and Larina, a sophomore, gave the Lady Demons the No. 1 and 2 spots on the All-Southland singles first team. Larina also teamed up with senior captain Nedorostova to claim the No. 1 doubles spot while Konop and freshman Krutova took the second doubles position.
Konop leads the team in singles action with an overall record of 14-4, predominately at the No. 1 position, and is 7-2 against SLC opponents. She and Krutova went 14-4 on the season and turned in a perfect 9-0 record in conference doubles play to earn the title of conference champions at the No. 2 spot.
Larina went 13-5 overall in singles and dropped just one match in league play to finish 8-1 and become the conference champion at the No. 2 position. Larina and Nedorostova compiled an impressive 15-3 doubles record overall and are regular season champions at the No. 1 spot with a 7-2 record.
Nedorostova cemented her place in the NSU record books this season as she became the winningest doubles player in program history. The Brno, Czech Republic native has amassed 69 doubles wins and just 10 losses throughout her career at NSU, surpassing former Lady Demon Bianca Schulz's record of 67-21.
Voting for all-conference honors was done by the 10 head women's tennis coaches and sports information contacts from each university.
