NATCHITOCHES – If your family and friends say you have the right stuff in your chili recipe, it's time to enter the annual Northwestern State Basketball Chili Cook-Off contest set for Thursday, Feb. 7 at Prather Coliseum.
The always-popular event provides fans with a meal between games and gives winning cooks bragging rights for a year, along with prizes.
Contestants will be asked to cook enough chili to serve 50 fans, who will be able to purchase all-you-can-eat meal tickets for $3 to enjoy the range of recipes before the men's game between the NSU Demons and the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles.
Prizes will include passes to the VIP Box Suites for any 2013 Demon football game, softball Outfield Club passes, and VIP treatment to the NSU home baseball game against Louisiana-Monroe. The baseball package includes the right to throw the ceremonial first pitch, a “meet and greet” with Demon players and coaches, along with home plate tickets and concession vouchers.
For more information and to sign up as a competing cook, contact Kyle Barnard at NSU's athletic ticket office by calling 357-4268, or sending an e-mail to his
