AUBURN, Ala. –Northwestern State's Polina Konop and Natalya Krutova advanced through the second flight doubles bracket at the Auburn Fall Invitational and defeated two more duos to win the championship match in their flight on Saturday afternoon.
 
Konop and Krutova went up against Mississippi State's Tran and VanGeel in the second round and took the match 9-8.
 
The duo advanced to the championship match where they met Auburn's Schippers and Kurteva. The NSU pair won the competition 8-6.
 
“Konop and Krutova had a very solid performance this weekend,” said coach Patric Dubois. “For them to go in and win in the second flight was very good especially because it is only Konop's second year and Krutova is a freshman.”
 
Tatiana Larina fell to Lamar's Carolina Salas in the third place match of the first flight after going 1-1 on Friday afternoon.
 
The doubles team of Daniela Simonova and Amy Williams was defeated by Tennessee-Chattanooga's Levant and Kitchen, 8-6 after being dealt a bye to get into the flight-three championship bracket on Friday. Simonova and Williams also fell to MSU's Flores and Dion, 8-3.
 
“Our goal for the weekend was just to see where we were at,” said Dubois. “We got to play some great competition and I think we really improved as the tournament went on.”
 
Northwestern State had several players compete in the consolation bracket on Saturday afternoon as well. Their results are as follows:
