NATCHITOCHES – The 2011-12 Northwestern State Lady Demons tennis team has earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-Academic Team honor by posting a cumulative grade point average over 3.20 during the last academic year, with Andrea Nedorostova, Linda Gamo and Tatiana Larina recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes for GPA's of 3.50 or better.
Northwestern was the only one of 12 Southland Conference teams to earn the ITA All-Academic Team honor. In state, NSU was joined by Louisiana-Lafayette and New Orleans. A total of 112 Division I women's teams were spotlighted.
Nedorostova, Gamo and Larina were the only Southland Conference student-athletes listed on the ITA Scholar-Athlete roster. In state, they were joined by three competitors from ULL and Tulane, along with two each from LSU and UNO.
Larina and Nedorostova made the All-Louisiana Team chosen this spring. Larina was Freshman of the Year on the All-Louisiana and All-Southland Conference teams, and was a first-team All-Southland selection in singles. Nedorostova was second-team All-Southland in doubles and made the Academic All-Southland Team for the third straight year.
