Baseball Sunday DH canceled

NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State's baseball doubleheader with Jacksonville State on Sunday has been canceled due to poor field conditions as a result of the steady rain the area received on Saturday.

The games will not be made up.

The Demons (1-0) defeated the Gamecocks by a 4-2 score on Friday in the season-opener for both squads in what was supposed to be a three-game weekend series.  But the rains started falling down early Saturday morning that required the coaches to push Saturday night's game two into a DH on Sunday.  Steady rainfall continued throughout the day on Saturday, and after a brief break, started up again late Saturday night that forced the cancellation of today's set due to unsafe field conditions.

NSU will be back in action on Tuesday when it visits former head coach Dave Van Horn and the Arkansas Razorbacks for a two-game series.

The Demons will return to Brown-Stroud Field on Friday at 6:30 when they start a three-game weekend series against Southern.
