TUSCALOOSA – The Northwestern State tennis team battled it out at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southern Regionals on Saturday but its efforts fell short as no Lady Demons were able to advance to the final day of competition.
“We had a good tournament and played solid tennis this weekend some of the other teams just played a little better than us,” said NSU tennis coach Patric Dubois.
Tatiana Larina went three sets with Troy's Karoline Grymel before falling 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the third round of singles competition.
“Tatiana did very well this weekend,” said Dubois. “She was able to beat to top player at Auburn on yesterday and went to three sets again today.”
Senior
Andrea Nedorostova also went to three sets in singles play but was unable to overcome Alabama-Birmingham's Isabel Fernandez as she lost 7-5, 6-7, 10-7.
In doubles play, the NSU duo of Larina and Nedorostova dropped their match to Dorafeeva and Grymel of Troy.
Polina Konop and
Daniela Simonova also came up short in doubles play, falling to Auburn's duo of Kasler and Pfeifler.
The Lady Demons continue their fall schedule next weekend at the Southern Mississippi Halloween Classic.
