Tennis has good showing in day two of Lady Demon Invite

NATCHITOCHES -- Polina Konop, Andrea Nedorostova and Daniela Simonova led the Northwestern State tennis team on Saturday afternoon in the Lady Demon Invite at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.

All three Lady Demons won two matches today to advance onto the championship matches for their flights.

“I felt we had another strong performance from all of our players," said Lady Demon head coach Patric Dubois. "We are doing a lot of the little things well which helps our whole game improve”

In the first flight, Konop took down Southern Mississippi's May 6-2, 6-4 in the second round before defeating Louisiana Monroe's Blankvoort 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals.

Polina Konop had two strong singles wins against  conference USA and Sunbelt Schools," said Dubois. "She is looking better with each match under her belt."

Nedorostova competed in flight two, collecting wins over Postnikova of Sam Houston State (4-6, 6-3, 10-2) and Arroyo of U of New Orleans (6-1, 6-2).

Freshman Simonova gained victories over Sam Houston's Stevenson (1-6, 6-0, 10-7) and Lamar's Dubyanskaya (1-0, Inj.) in the third flight.

In doubles play, the duo of Nedorostova and Tatiana Larina defeated Salas and Porte of Lamar 8-2. 

"Tatiana and Andrea played a wonderful doubles match in defeating a very good No. 1 doubles team from Lamar," said Dubois. "Also, our senior captain (Andrea Nedorostova) is setting the tone with two very solid singles wins today.”

The Lady Demon Invite continues tomorrow morning with doubles competition beginning at 8:30.
