NATCHITOCHES -- Senior guard Damon Jones posted 24 points Tuesday night to lead five double-digit scorers for Northwestern State in a comeback 83-73 homecourt win over LSU-Shreveport in college basketball.
The NAIA power Pilots, who brought a 9-0 record into the game that they designated as an exhibition contest, led by 14 points midway through the first half and had their last lead with 2:38 to go, 73-72 on a layup by 16-point scorer Greg Shyne. But they didn't score again, missing their last seven shots with one turnover.
The Demons, 4-3, flipped the script to win. LSU-S came out red hot before cooling into 46 percent shooting aim at halftime, compared to 38 percent for Northwestern, which made only 2 of its first 14 shots. But NSU sank 59 percent after halftime and held LSU-S to only 36 percent shooting.
Dominic Knight added 16 points for the Demons while Michael McConathy, Will Pratt and Charles Clark each scored 10. The Pilots were led by 18 points from Derrick Parker with Jared Stevenson adding 12.

Knight made a pretty assist to William Mosley with just four seconds left on the shot clock on NSU's next possession, getting a dunk for a 76-73 advantage. Mosley had 4 blocked shots for the third straight game, and added 8 rebounds.
NSU played at home for the first time in four games. The Demons go to LSU in Baton Rouge Saturday night for a 7 o'clock contest with the Tigers, then come home next Wednesday night to face Grambling.
